Join WRB, The Pearls and Chata Addy on the 27th to support IRCO, the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization
As I write this I am saddened by the fact that the administration’s “travel ban” has just gone into effect. It is precisely because of this, and so many other cowardly, counterproductive, and just plain un-Amercan acts perpetrated by this administration that While Rome Burns was formed: to provide what little counterweight we can to the burdens being placed on the most vulnerable among us.
Though planned well in advance of the recent supreme court’s ruling, this month’s benefit couldn’t be more timely. For 40 years IRCO has been serving Portland’s immigrant and refugee community, providing support and counsel in the quest to help integrate refugees, immigrants and the community at large into a self-sufficient, healthy and inclusive multi-ethnic society.
Please consider joining us Thursday, July 27 at Mississippi Pizza Pub & Atlantis Lounge to honor this indispensable organization. Take a moment to meet with representatives from IRCO, and enjoy two of Portland’s finest musical acts: Legendary drummer, dancer, choreographer, songwriter, and teacher of the arts and culture from the West African traditions, Chata Addy, followed by fiery and sweet roots-rock -Americana band The Pearls.
As always, 100% of the proceeds go to our honored organization. This month it’s IRCO. And what could be more perfect than that?
