Feed The People

Not long ago we had the pleasure of meeting D. Bora Harris, activist and one-time political candidate (Multnomah County Chair). Championing the causes of the elderly, homeless people, affordable housing, and the interests of children, Bora, a business specialist and consultant from the black community, told us what her current project is: To help feed folks at Walnut Park Shelter.

This seemed like an excellent project to us, so naturally we asked if While Rome Burns could help out. And that’s exactly what we plan to do the last Sunday this month, with the help of some fine musicians: Tevis Hodge Jr. and Leah Rae Charles. Won’t you join us?

Walnut Park Shelter

Transition Projects helps people experiencing homelessness transition to housing. Living on the streets is tough – mentally, physically, and emotionally. To survive, those experiencing homelessness need access to basic services and safe spaces to be – both during the day and at night.

Transition Projects’ Walnut Park Shelter is a seasonal, overnight shelter for 80 men, women, and couples that offers safety off the street and support to help people experiencing homelessness regain stability, connect to essential support services, and access stable and permanent housing options.
