Jennifer Smieja

A singer/songwriter with Midwest roots, Jennifer Smieja brings a refreshingly honest take on life and love to her finely drawn songs.  Inspired by the music of Gillian Welch, Patsy Cline and Richard Thompson, Jennifer’s band shares the sounds of neo-acoustic folk, Americana and country.  She can also be found lending her voice to Too Loose – the Northwest’s premiere Cajun/Zydeco band and is a regular feature at the Waterfront Blues Festival as well as Portland’s own Mardi Gras Ball.  Jennifer has joined the line up for the Lake Theater’s Patsy Cline Tribute, the Star Theater’s annual Holiday Stumptown Soul Spectacular, and last year performed with the all-star cast of The Next Waltz.

A track from her debut album  “To Measure The Sky” was selected for the KMUZ-FM Local Roots Compilation CD and Festival for 2016.

She is joined tonight by her band –  Greg Paul on guitar (Sing Sing Sleepwalker, Amy Farris, Debora Iyall) Dave Stricker on bass (Shoebox Letters, Lenny Rancher) and Carlos Stricker on drums.

“ Jennifer Smieja is a talented singer/songwriter whose songs you can feel come right from the heart and as a listener that connection comes through in every phrase. Her debut EP “To Measure the Sky,” showcases her compelling voice and ability to deliver beautifully crafted songs covering a range of styles and genres.” –  Local Roots Radio – KMUZ.FM
